Job Summary:
Nature of work:
This is complex clerical work involving the application of accounting principles and practices in maintaining financial records. Performs varied tasks such as responsibility for the application of bookkeeping principles and practices to a wide range of financial records and accounts within the limits of an established accounting system. Work includes performing accounting procedures including posting and balancing transactions to account ledgers, preparing account adjustments and reconciling general ledger accounts with monthly reports. Work decisions are made in accordance with established precedents and departmental procedures. Supervision is received from an administrative superior with work reviewed in the form of accuracy and results achieved.
Essential Duties:
Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and faculty over the phone, in person, and through email.
Responsible for accounts receivable (student accounts)
Process billings and payments
Answer inquiries on student accounts
Disburse student refund checks and process outstanding checks
Receipt off-campus payments
Send student accounts to outside collection agencies per procedures
Maintain files with adequate authorizations and backup for billings
Track study abroad and study away student payment balances
Assist Student Financials Accountant with weekly student account review
Responsible for reconciliations as assigned
Secondary Duties:
Assist with physical inventory duties related to campus inventory and surplus
Issue parking permits to students, staff, faculty and public
Open and close offices
Review housing files
Provide backup assistance to third party billing process
Other duties as assigned
