Job Summary:
The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) Business Centers are a cohesive team that provide professional service, efficient resource management, and effective solution development with integrity, accountability and focus on the customer. This position is located on UNL’s East Campus, home of the beautiful Maxwell Arboretum, the UNL Dairy Store, and plenty of parking!
As a Finance Specialist, you will:
- Serve in a customer-facing, consultative role and be responsible for providing finance support in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Primarily execute and review routine and complex financial transactions.
- Work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
- Function under limited supervision and utilize technology to provide professional services.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of related finance work experience; additional relevant education or experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience with SAP or large integrated finance system.
- A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Experience performing project or cost accounting.
- Experience conducting training.
- Experience serving multiple units as part of a service team.
- Experience performing finance tasks at a University of Nebraska institution preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
