Nature of Work:
Graduate Assistants are hired at Wayne State College to assist in meeting the vision and goals established for WSC. Strategic deployment of graduate assistant positions is essential to ensure that limited resources are utilized in a manner consistent with the philosophy of WSC. Graduate assistants provide experiential learning in select areas and to assist the individual in a successful transition to future educational and professional opportunities.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Make satisfactory progress on degree program and maintain good academic standing (GPA >3.0)
- Teach undergraduate course(s) in the Department of Business and Economics
- Assist faculty in grading assignments as well as assisting faculty during in-class assignments and projects
- Help Business and Economics faculty in department related events
- Assist with student organization meetings and events
- Tutor students during established tutoring hours
- All staff members are expected to model a high level of character, self-discipline, and integrity when representing the Business and Economics Department
- Other duties in the department as needed

Special Instructions:
A total (maximum) of 400 hours of work is required for this Graduate Assistantship. Typically, twenty-five (25) hours of work will be assigned per week by your supervisor during the Academic Year. The special appointment provides a stipend of $6,000.00 for the 2026 Spring Semester and a graduate tuition waiver available for up to 9 credit hours per academic year including the immediately following summer session. All fees will be the responsibility of the student regardless of online or on-campus. Tuition remissions awarded for online courses will not exceed the comparable amount provided for an on-campus course for a resident student.
This is an appointment with the opportunity of renewal after the first year.
