Job Summary:
Nature of Work: Routine custodial work in cleaning and performing related tasks. Work is generally performed in accordance with established procedures and sanitary standards, which may vary depending upon location. Performs preventative/routine maintenance, minor repairs, and grounds keeping tasks.
Examples of Work Performed:
1. Perform routine custodial work which includes cleaning and maintain assigned areas
a. Vacuum all carpeted areas
b. Sweep and mop hard surface floors
c. Clean, sanitize, and re-stock restrooms on a daily basis
d. Dust, high and low
e. Collect and empty all trash from assigned areas and dispose of trash in central receptacle
2. Work safely and use appropriate precautionary methods involved in cleaning, maintenance and repair activities.
Secondary Duties:
1. Perform other cleaning duties unique to assigned areas such as shampooing carpeted areas, stripping, scrubbing, and waxing floors, cleaning walls, woodwork, baseboards, windows, blinds, and furniture.
2. Perform minor and routine maintenance to assigned areas, such as changing light bulbs, replacing light covers and repairing blinds
3. Turn in work orders for any maintenance problems in order for repairs to be made immediately
4. Move furniture and equipment as directed
5. Operate equipment such as vacuums, buffers, extractors and scrubbers
6. Perform preventative/routine maintenance and grounds keeping tasks as needed
7. Perform emergency and special setup or cleanup functions
8. Lock and unlock building doors, meeting rooms and classrooms
9. Assist with snow removal from entrance areas and steps
10. This position typically works Monday-Friday 5:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. Work may be required during none routine times to support special events.
11. Other duties as assigned

Ability to work in extreme hot or cold; bend, crouch and climb; assist in safe lifting in excess of 75 pounds; and, sufficient strength to perform assigned tasks.
