Job Description

Job Summary:

Nature of Work: Assist with the administration of federal and state student aid programs by processing and verifying applications, processing awards, running disbursements, tracking scholarships/waivers, drafting letters, monitoring academic progress and running reports. Answer questions and provide financial aid information regarding scholarships, grants, work study, and student loans.

Examples of Work Performed:

 1.  Advise students and their families regarding financial aid and business services options.
 2. Develop and maintain a very positive and professional customer service attitude within the office and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, and guests.
 3. Participate actively in enrollment management and student retention activities.
 4. Assist with the presentation of financial aid and scholarship workshops and similar outreach programs.
 5. Manage the administration of over $15 million in federal and private loans to include processing entrance counseling and MPN files, loan origination, account research, loan adjustments, troubleshooting, loan               disbursements, and sending exit counseling notices within the federal required timeframe to maintain institutional compliance.
 6. Maintain college relationships with ELM Resources and alternative loan lenders.
 7. Effectively apply technology to improve delivery of related services and streamline loan processes.
 8. Develop a default prevention plan to assist in lowering the college’s cohort default rate.
 9. Complete the federal verification process following federal regulations on student records to determine student eligibility, make appropriate corrections, and maintain a high degree of accuracy. Send various     communications through PeopleSoft.
10. Review Institutional Student Information Records in Suspense. Determine appropriate next steps and communicate necessary actions to students.
11.  Assist with PeopleSoft testing.
12. Review Satisfactory Academic Progress eligibility & appeals as needed.
13. Follow written policies and procedures about the College’s financial aid programs.
14. Understand and apply Federal and State regulations and Institutional policies to daily operations.
15. Cross train on other processes within the department.
16. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of this classification.
