Job Summary:

Nature of Work 

Recruits, develops and provides guidance to student athletes of the esports program in a manner which promotes academic, athletic, and social success of student-athletes and is consistent with the mission and goals of Wayne State College and the Athletics and Recreation Department. The esports program is affiliated to a variety of conferences which gives our student-athletes the best opportunity to compete.

 

Examples of Work Performed

  1. Provides leadership, supervision, and administration of the esports program at Wayne State College
  2. Coordinate the esports arena schedule including practices, competitions, and open times
  3. Develop and coordinate the workers, interns, or practicum students including the hiring, training, and review of student employees
  4. Set and meet recruitment and retention goals
  5. Encourage academic excellence and compliance with standards set forth by the athletic department
  6. Assist in coaching your game of specialty and others as needed
  7. Ensure all conference requirements are met by the athletes and fees are paid in advance
  8. Host events on campus and virtually to promote the program
  9. Coordinate travel arrangements including lodging and meal considerations
  10. Develop and implement marketing and branding strategies for the esports program
  11. Evaluate and review the program and recommend changes and improvements to the Associate Athletics Director
  12. Responsible for fundraising activities for the program and assist with department wide fundraising opportunities
  13. Be committed to the health and wellbeing of the student-athletes by providing opportunities for physical activities (i.e., weight training, sporting activities, etc.)
  14. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to work with and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in esports – coaching, directing, and/or as an athlete
  • Experience with troubleshooting computers
  • Strong recruitment skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Discord, Twitch, social media, and other esports-related applications (Steam, Riot Games, Battle.net, etc.)

Other Requirements

  • Criminal background, credit, and DMV check; valid driver's license
