Job Summary:
This position supports the Early Childhood Inclusive (Birth to Grade 3) program at UNK. Primary responsibilities of this position teaching twenty-four credits annual (12 cr-12 cr load), which may include supervision of practicum students and/or student teaching. Additional responsibilities include service to the department, college, and university.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field.
- Two or more years of teaching and/or administrative experience in early childhood education (Birth to Grade 3).
- Should hold or be able to obtain a certification to teach early childhood inclusive (Birth to Grade 3) education in Nebraska.
- Evidence of effective teaching at the university level or in professional development settings (or strong potential to do so).
- Knowledge of NAEYC standards, developmentally appropriate practice (DAP), and contemporary issues in early childhood education.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate (EdD or PhD) in Early Childhood Education or a related field (ABD considered).
- More than 5 years of teaching experience coupled with administrative experience in the realm of early childhood education is preferred.
- Nebraska Department of Education Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Inclusive (Birth to Grade 3).
- Nebraska Department of Education Principal Certification
- Experience supervising teacher candidates in field placements.
- Experience teaching online or hybrid courses.
- Background in early childhood special education, inclusive practices, or multilingual learner instruction.
- Experience with CAEP or accreditation processes.
