Job Summary:
The U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC)is a 34,000-acre facility near Clay Center, NE. The work performed at USMARC supports research that is focused on solving high priority problems for the U.S. beef cattle, sheep, and swine industries.
As a Construction Tech I, you will:
- Assist Construction Supervisor with new construction, repair, and maintenance of existing facilities which includes remote buildings, livestock working facilities, livestock water systems and monitoring and maintaining of waste lift stations. This includes, but is not limited to, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, concrete and welding.
Position requires irregular hours, work in inclement weather, and work in livestock facilities.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED plus one year of combined experience in any of the following construction trades such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, concrete, welding or similar work. Additional years of completed relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Knowledge and skills in at least one construction trade area such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, concrete, or welding or other similar work.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Experience and/or training in multiple construction trades such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, concrete, and welding.
- Machinery operations and maintenance skills.
- Experience working with and around livestock.
