
Job Summary:
As an Electrician I, you will:
- Assist with the installation, alteration, addition, maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or repair of electrical systems, lighting controls, access control systems, building security systems, fire alarm systems, and building automation control systems.
- Learn to interpret and use schematics and blueprint drawings to complete the installation and troubleshooting of electrical conduit systems, wiring, and device termination, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Urgent situations occasionally require after-hours work.
Electricians are assigned to a rotating, on-call schedule

Required Qualifications:
- High School education or GED.
- State of Nebraska Apprentice Electrical License or the ability to obtain the license upon employment.
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirement.
- Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Thinking and reasoning skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Familiar with and able to operate tools and machinery.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to work from a ladder and/or aerial equipment.
- Available by cell phone to assist with campus emergencies.
- Available for regular rotations on the weekend and after-hours on-call schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Electrical technology, or other related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- 1 year experience working with electrical and low voltage systems.
- Familiar with an EMCS.
- Familiar with a CMMS.
- Basic computer skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of or experience with building, electrical, and fire codes.
