Job Summary:

As an Irrigation Technician, you will:

  • Monitor and inspect irrigation systems for performance and leaks.
  • Adjust and repair sprinkler heads, valves, and piping.
  • Maintain irrigation controllers and ensure proper scheduling.
  • Perform installations and upgrades of irrigation systems.
  • Winterize systems and prepare for seasonal operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair system issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and system performance.
  • Track water usage and identify inefficiencies.
  • Operate and use necessary tools and equipment.
  • Report major issues to leadership.
  • Remove snow and ice from steps, sidewalks, ramps, drives, and other areas using manual and powered equipment.
  • Perform general landscape and grounds tasks.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High School education or GED
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or site plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain job related equipment.
  • Available 24/7 for weather-related emergencies.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training or certification in plumbing or irrigation system installation or repair.
  • Experience working with irrigation systems, components, and tools.
  • Experience with electrical or plumbing.
  • Experience working in a campus or large-scale landscape environment.
  • Knowledge of water conservation practices
