Academic Progress Coach
Job Description

Job Summary:

The Academic Progress Advisor and Coach provides developmental academic advising and coaching to students identified as needing support. This includes students with low midterm grades, students receiving academic alerts, and students on academic probation. In collaboration with faculty and other academic staff, provides resources and guidance to students as part of a holistic approach that leads to academic success, career-skill attainment, persistence, graduation, or transition to professional programs. Proactively connects with students experiencing academic difficulties to provide support and make referrals. Coordinates belonging and development programming, including managing, communicating about, and assessing programs. Utilizes technologies, including CRM, student information, Learning Management System, career development platforms and other systems and data to communicate with, advise, and support students, faculty and staff. Demonstrates superior listening, organization and communication skills, and a commitment to student service. Demonstrates sensitivity to the changing needs of a diverse student population, working collaboratively with a broad range of colleagues, constituents, and students. Represents department on university committees while supporting the Loper Success Hub.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

2 years experience working in an academic setting

Excellent oral and written communication skills, positive customer service orientation, the ability to interact with a wide range of individuals with diverse interests and needs and experience working with college students in an academic setting. Understanding of student development theory or experience in academic advising, coaching, student counseling or academic programming.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree

2 or more years of experience in academic advising in higher education

This position is grant funded for at a minimum of 18 months with a potential of up to 5 years.
