Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Counseling guides and directs initiatives to support student success by fostering an supportive environment that promotes positive mental and physical health and general wellbeing. Reporting to the Director of Counseling Services, the Assistant Director of Counseling creates and maintaining a student-centered culture, developing and implementing programs and procedures to support student mental and physical health.This position works with a variety of campus and partners, including faculty, staff and students to ensure that UNKStudent Affairs seeks to enhance student growth, foster a welcoming environment, develop an atmosphere where all students thrive. This position is vital to the advancement and collaboration of student success initiatives, partnering primarily with Academic Affairs, Residential Life and the Loper Success Hub, to enrich the UNK student experience.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
The successful candidate will have three years experience working in medicine, mental health or higher education.
Experience with mental health assessment and intervention, or dealing with crisis management.
Experience with prevention and outreach networking and programming, and an understanding of developmental issues relevant to the college population
Strong organizational skills and exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling, counseling psychology, psychology or related field in mental health
