Job Summary:
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) is accepting applications for a tenure track position starting in August 2026. The Department is looking for a passionate educator who has a specific interest in applications of mathematics and statistics. Teaching responsibilities will primarily include face-to-face courses for majors and non-majors, ranging from college algebra and elementary statistics to upper-level courses. Research and publication appropriate for the mission of the University are required in a related field. Service to the department, to the college, to the university, and to the discipline are required.
The teaching load is 12 credit hours on campus each semester, Spring and Fall, with the possibility of a 3-credit hour research release each semester. Research and service in accordance with departmental, college, and university guidelines are required for continued appointment, promotion, and tenure.
Required Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related discipline earned by the date of appointment

Evidence of quality research in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Mathematics Education

Evidence of a focus on student success in undergraduate education

Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Research interests in applied mathematics or statistics (such as mathematical/statistical modeling, data science, optimization, actuarial science, etc.)

Evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate mathematics or statistics courses, including innovative or active learning approaches

Ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses, including service and upper-level courses, in various domains of mathematics and statistics

Specific interest in developing and implementing statistics curriculum
