Job Summary:
The CARE team case manager is a non-clinical position that assists students who are experiencing crisis or distress that impacts their social, personal, and/or academic stability. This position provides case management services including interventions, referrals, and follow-up services on behalf of the CARE Team. UNK’s CARE Team, comprising of professionals from across campus, receives referrals of students of concern, collects additional information, and identifies and enacts appropriate strategies for addressing the concerns. The purpose of the team is to provide a confidential means for students who are experiencing observed concerns to receive help through collaboration with campus departments, faculty and staff, and occasional referral to community organizations. The goal of these efforts is to increase student success and improve the learning environment for all.The Case manager is also responsible for implementing campus educational outreach activities, such as mental health education, sexual violence education/prevention activities as well as suicide prevention training.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Two years' experience working with students in emergent situations and a solution-focused approach to student care, OR a comparable combination of education and experience in a related field working with diverse individuals.
Knowledge of effective office management practices, including record security and organizational efficiency
Strong oral and written communication skills; demonstrated leadership; and experience with public speaking, developing presentations, and delivering presentations to varied audiences
Ability to communicate difficult or sensitive information in a timely, appropriate, and effective manner
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Public Health, Communications, Public Relations, Student Affairs, or a related field
Two to three years of direct experience working with students of concern, including experience conducting risk assessments and case management
Experience with grant management, including tracking deliverables and reporting requirements
