Communications Coordinator
Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides communication and programming support to the Student Engagement Office for events and student organizations and activities; for example, coordinating Blue Gold Showcase vendors and setup; Homecoming parade, LPAC activities and events; elections for homecoming and student government. Demonstrates service to students and possesses an attitude of teamwork. Collaborates campuswide with individual students, staff and faculty, student organizations and community to meet the diverse needs of students by creating a welcoming space and climate where inclusion and the diversity within these communities is highlighted, celebrated, and advanced. Works in various communication platforms and systems including Presence, Qualtrics, and basic databases. Must have excellent computer skills, demonstrated ability to select appropriate communication methods and modes, strong writing and proof-reading skills.

  • Provides office support that assists professional staff with programs and events throughout the year. Coordinates travel for students and staff.
  • Assists with publications, documents, fliers, marketing and correspondence with accurate and effective communication, proofing and writing skills. Gathers information for and delivers weekly Student Bulletin. Organizes content for FourWinds digital communication boards.
  • Produce and distribute parent and family communication including a bi-weekly newsletter.  Create timely, relevant, and engaging content that connects with parents and family member empowering them to support student retention and keeps them engaged with the University.
  • Maintains and updates list of student organizations and student group constitutions. Works with Student Engagement Software Presence. Creates forms, posts events and calendar items. Assists Student Government and LPAC on elections and homecoming royalty votes using Qualtrics and Presence systems.
  • Maintains Outlook programming calendar for Student Union and Student Engagement Office and tracks participation and attendance at events.
  • Other duties as requested to advance the student engagement team goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School education or GED
  • 2 years in an office setting or 2 years of post-high school education
  • Excellent, friendly, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer software skills with ability to quickly utilize Microsoft office and related software (word, excel, photoshop, adobe pdf)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in an educational and/or a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of publisher, power point, adobe Indesign, illustrator and ability to update web pages
