Job Summary:
The University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) seeks a collaborative, student-centered Lecturer in Teacher Education to join the Department of Teacher Education with expertise in teaching science, mathematics or social studies education . The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses that support initial teacher certification, supervise field experiences, and contribute to program development and departmental service. This is a non-tenure-track instructional position with the possibility of annual renewal based on performance, program needs, and funding.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Teacher Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Foundations, or a closely related field.
At least two (2) years of PK-12 teaching.
Eligible candidates must hold (or have the ability to obtain) a current teaching certification in Nebraska.

Successful P–12 teaching experience.

Evidence of effective teaching at the university level or strong potential for excellence in higher education instruction.

Knowledge of teacher preparation standards (e.g., InTASC), assessment systems, and program accreditation.

Demonstrated commitment to the mission of teacher education at UNK.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate (EdD or PhD) in Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education or a directly related field (ABD considered).
Minimum of five (5) years of significant PK-12 teaching and/or leadership experience in public school settings and in fields related to elementary education or middle level education are preferred.
Experience supervising student teachers or preservice educators.
Experience teaching online or hybrid courses.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas: (e.g., elementary/middle science education; elementary/middle social studies education; STEM education).
Experience with CAEP, AAQEP, or other accreditation/assessment frameworks.

They build strong partnerships with K–12 schools, communicate effectively with mentor teachers and supervisors, and support teacher candidates at all stages of their preparation.
Holding at least a master's degree in education or a related field, the ideal candidate exhibits strong professional ethics, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to high quality teacher preparation. They are model reflective practitioners who stay current with research, policy trends, and best practices in teacher preparation, and they actively foster inclusive, supportive learning environments aligned with UNK's mission and values.
