Job Summary:
The Department of Art and Design at the University of Nebraska, Kearney invites applications for a Lecturer position in Art Education to start in Fall 2026. This position is a yearly appointment with teaching and department service responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach Art Education Methods, Art Integration, other courses as assigned consistent with the candidate’s qualifications and, assist in pre-service field experience observations. We are seeking an artist-educator who is student centered and supports best practices in visual art education. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across campus and the community.
Required Qualifications:
A Master with PK12 art education teaching experience is required with active professional creative practice and accomplishments.
Preferred Qualifications
A Masters with an emphasis in Art Education and 3+ years teaching at the college or university level.

The Department of Art and Design at the University of Nebraska at Kearney involves a diverse art experience of traditional and emerging arts for art education as well as professional practice. The Department offers undergraduate art majors in areas including art education, drawing, glass, illustration, printmaking, photography, visual communication and design. In addition, the Department offers online graduate degrees in art education with emphases in either classroom or museum education. At UNK, students have many extra opportunities to gain a richer educational experience, from visiting artists and gallery shows to workshops and national competitions as well as extra-curricular art clubs and working with client-based projects in the community and state. The Art and Design Department at UNK is ever-changing with popular culture while still staying true to classical artists and emerging visual arts. Our faculty consist of 9 tenure track professors, 2 lecture instructors, and 8 adjunct faculty teaching roughly 120 art majors.
