
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Operations and Finance Manager to lead the business, financial, and organizational operations of the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families & Schools (CYFS). This role is central to ensuring effective fiscal and administrative management of CYFS with responsibilities including fiscal administration, business planning, team supervision, and HR coordination. The position works closely with CYFS leadership and College of Education and Human Sciences business staff to ensure alignment with university policies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the fiscal operations of CYFS, including budget development, monitoring, analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
- Provide financial and organizational data to inform long-range planning and strategy development.
- Oversee business planning, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with university, college, and federal guidelines.
- Provide day-to-day management of CYFS office.
- Supervise and support the CYFS administrative services team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Coordinate and oversee human resource operations, including hiring, benefits, training, and employee relations in collaboration with CEHS business staff.
- Partner with the Director and Co-Director in strategic planning and implementation for the Center.
- Advise on budgetary matters, including strategic investments and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Provide leadership for compliance and accountability reporting, including annual budget reports, personnel reports, and financial analyses.
- Represent CYFS in university business workshops and organizations.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, marketing, human resources or equivalent.
- Seven years of experience in business operations in any combination of accounting, grants/contracts, human resource, financial or business/information management.
- Master's degree in business, accounting, marketing, human resources or equivalent plus five (5) years of experience in business operations in any combination of accounting, grants/contracts, human resource, financial or business/information management may substitute for Bachelor's degree and seven years of required experience.
- Supervisory or team management experience.
- Office management experience.
- Working knowledge of budgeting, accounting, grants/contracts, personnel and payroll practices.
- Ability to develop, monitor, and forecast budgets, and generate financial reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and possess a strong commitment to customer service.
Preferred Qualifications (but not required):
- Master's degree in business, accounting, marketing, human resources or related field, or additional certifications.
- Experience working in a university, government or non-profit environment.
- Working knowledge of university research.
- Knowledge of federal regulations.
