Project Financial Specialist
Job Description

Job Summary:

This position provides oversight for the financial accounting of construction projects for Facilities Planning & Capital Programs (FP&CP) and partners with Project Managers from project inception through final costing. Prepares and analyzes complex financial information, develops financial statements and reports, and ensures accurate recording of assets, liabilities, and project activity. Assists senior management with budgeting, financial reporting, and specialized analyses while ensuring compliance with GAAP and funding requirements. Operates with minimal supervision, evaluates internal controls, recommends process improvements, and may provide functional guidance, training and work leadership to less‑experienced accounting and support staff.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or related field.

2 years relevant professional experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, or a related financial function.

Experience analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts, or financial analyses.

Experience using spreadsheets and/or financial systems to analyze and report financial information.

 

Equivalent combination of education and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with capital project, construction, or project financial analysis/accounting.

Experience with plant fund, grant, contract, or restricted-funding financial activities.

Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, cash-flow analysis, or scenario analysis.

Experience with ERP or enterprise financial systems.

Experience evaluating or improving financial processes and internal controls.
