SR. ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT / CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Job Summary:

The Sr. Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer is the critical integrator of our strategic vision into day-to-day operations at the University of Nebraska. This position has a direct impact on evaluating, planning, implementing, and continually improving business operations. This position needs a collaborative leader with extensive experience bringing together and aligning various departments, perspectives and goals into a cohesive operation. The COO builds and sustains relationships with key stakeholders to provide optimal business services that meet organizational goals.

 

This position reports to the Senior Vice President for Business and Finance| CFO and works closely with extended University leadership providing strategic guidance and administrative oversight for business services supporting individual campus and system operations, space planning, design & construction, public safety and emergency management, and human resources activities. The Sr. Associate Vice President/Chief Operating Officer directly and indirectly advises on budget and fiscal endeavors, guides enterprise technology objectives, and oversees internal culture and engagement initiatives.

 

Additionally, the Sr. Associate Vice President/ Chief Operating Officer will handle a wide range of matters of institutional importance on behalf of the President of the University of Nebraska and will provide direction and oversight for multifunctional activities across the University.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree or other advanced degree

10 years of progressive responsibility in organizational leadership including substantial experience with multifunctional business services.

Proven track record of operational and capital budget planning.

Demonstrated experiences related to continuous business improvements and the implementation of change across systems, policies, procedures, and people to improve operational outcomes, reduce costs, and increase stakeholder satisfaction.

Proven skills in making understandable, defensible decisions; communicating complex issues in clear and transparent terms; producing high-quality business reports in an accurate and actionable manner.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience working with University of Nebraska campuses and the System Office.

Experience in a senior leadership role that emphasizes strong business acumen with the ability to see the broad consequences of a course of action and its impact acrossbroad constituencies that may include government, business, and community leaders.

 

Additional Information:

Applicants should note, the goals of the University of Nebraska System Office are university- and state-wide, but this position will primarily work with Administration in the Lincoln office.
