Specialist, Military and VA Benefits
Job Description

Job Summary:

The Specialist, Military & VA Benefits will be primarily responsible for certifying VA benefits, the MVSC point of contact for Tuition Waiver and Tuition Remission benefits, and State of Nebraska Education Programs, as well as educating individuals on other benefits as necessary. This position liaises with the VA Education Liaison and the State Compliance Officer in updating academic programs for VA and DOD approval. This position prepares all files for annual compliance survey and makes policy and process recommendations based on feedback. This position plans, coordinates and executes opportunities to educate families, veterans and service members on their benefits including orientation, community appreciation events, and other specialty events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or two (2) years of VA Certification Training
  • One (1) year experience in working with the military and/or veteran community.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • VA certification training.
  • Knowledge of State and federal veterans benefits and tuition assistance as well as university operations.
