
Job Summary:
The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) Business Centers are a cohesive team that provide professional service, efficient resource management, and effective solution development in with integrity, accountability and focus on the customer. This position will provide financial management support for the faculty and programs at both the West Central Research, Extension and Education Center in North Platte and the Panhandle Research, Extension and Education Center in Scottsbluff, NE.
This position may be located in either North Platte or Scottsbluff, NE.
As a Finance Specialist, you will:
- Serve in a consultative role and be responsible for providing finance support in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Execute and review routine and complex finance transactions.
- Work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
- Function under limited supervision and be expected to utilize technology to provide professional services.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of related finance or grant management work experience. Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience with SAP or other large integrated finance system.
- A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines, on the disclosure of information.
- Demonstrted ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Experience performing project or cost accounting.
- Experience conducting training.
- Experience serving multiple units as part of a service team.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
- Experience performing finance tasks at a University of Nebraska institution.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
