Associate Director of Cancer Center Administration
Job Description

Job Summary:

The Associate Director for Administration (ADA) reports to, and is directly responsible to, the Cancer Center Director for all matters pertaining to the administration of the research, training & education, and strategic planning programs of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center (FPBCC). The principal role of the ADA is to support the Director in fulfilling the mission of the FPBCC and to oversee the full range of activities and responsibilities of the FPBCC research administration.

Responsible for the entire scope of planning, operations and resource management for Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Centers (FPBCC) research enterprise. Work directly with the Director in defining and prioritizing specific needs related to the Center's mission and developing objectives and strategies to meet those needs. Directs and plans all financial operations, oversee technology support operations for research operations, provides leadership for management of all space, facilities, and capital needs; has management responsibility for all finances, programs, research operations, and human resources issues (both academic and staff) in the RPBCC,

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Public Health, Science or related field.
  • 8 years progressively responsible management experience of an administrative unit supervising a team and must include four years' experience in related grants administration environment.
  • Microsoft Excel,Microsoft Word,Microsoft PowerPoint

Will consider additional related post high school in lieu of required experience.

 

  • Excellent project management skills including grants management and administration.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, evaluating and tracking strategic plans.
  • Excellent writing skills to produce concise, logical analytical reports, grant proposals, correspondence, and directions.
  • Demonstrated background to function at an executive level and, as such, work independently and exercise sound judgement.
  • Ability to take initiative and demonstrate strong commitment to duties.
  • Extensive experience in developing, implementing and controlling budgets with multiple funding sources and financial systems and policies.
  • Working knowledge of issues and procedures in Human Resource management. Innovative decision-making and judgement on a frequent basis entailing the planning, development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and situational solutions.
  • High degree of professional independence.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of rapidly changing information from wide range of sources and to incorporate this into polices and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive, detailed analyses of complex polices, regulations, statutes, and guidelines and interpret/explain them to others.
  • Ability to take initiative and demonstrate strong commitment to duties.
  • Analytical skills to bring together pertinent factors for decision-making. Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of rapidly changing information from wide rand of sources and to incorporate into strategic planning.
  • Ability to think critically and to compile and analyze data.
  • Ability to analyze problems, implement solutions and multitask.
  • Ability to work within a deadline-driven structure.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership in change management.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining flexibility and adaptability while implementing institutional change.
  • Knowledge of pertinent policies, procedures, regulations and requirement of University, State, Federal, and other agencies.
  • Expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Public Health, Science or related field.
  • 8 years prior research administration experience at an NCI-designated cancer center orother NIH-funded research center.
  • Experience in MS Planner
  • CPA certification
  • Microsoft Access,SAP,Microsoft Outlook
  • Knowledge of University of Nebraska policies with regard to research administration, finances and human resources.
