Biomed Informatics Developer/Analyst III
Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide software development, systems architecture, data analysis, and project management for the Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology's public service and translational research cores, providing essential support and expertise to researchers and physician scientists. This position will help researchers collect, integrate and analyze data and develop tools for the analysis and interpretation of complex high-throughput datasets that facilitate basic science research and the translation of research findings into clinical practice. Serving as the primary point of contact for multiple projects, this position will establish and implement project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, adhere to high quality standards, and meet assigned expectation, as well as manage resources required to successfully execute projects by defining roles and responsibilities and arranging assignments for key project participants, and be responsible for develop/define, publish, and execute project plan.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, Computer Sciences, or related field
  • 5 years experience in healthcare systems that includes database and systems design, implementation, upgrade, diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Microsoft Outlook,Microsoft Excel,Microsoft PowerPoint,Microsoft Project,Microsoft Word
  • Java, Python, and/or Groovy; SQL databases such as MS SQL, Oracle, postgres and/or MySQL

Will consider nine years related education/experience.

 

  • Extensive knowledge of the clinical, educational, and research missions of an academic institution.
  • Practical experience in the design, development, adoption, and application of health IT in a variety of clinical and/or research environments.
  • Knowledge of regulatory aspects of clinical research informatics.
  • Able to work in Unix-based systems and Windows based systems.
  • Skilled in bioinformatics.
  • Analytical skills including use of statistics, with strong problem solving, writing, and oral communication skills.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, Computer Sciences, or related field
  • 6 years experience in healthcare systems that includes database and systems design, implementation, upgrade, diagnosis and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in an academic medical center setting with a working understanding of the clinical, educational, and research missions
  • Experience working with clinical research data
  • Experience working with high-throughput multi-omics data
  • Experience working with clinical image data (MRI, fMRI,MEG, CT, etc.)
  • Expertise in the use, and linking, of various sources of health data including the electronic medical record, administrative/claims data, and/or publicly available datasets
  • Track record of accomplishments in biomedical and/or clinical informatics, with corresponding accomplishments in scholarship and peer-reviewed recognition.
  • Experience and expertise in regulatory aspects of clinical research informatics
  • Record of leadership, project management, and collaboration including the ability to work effectively with administrators, faculty, staff, residents/fellows, and students.
  • Experience working with or leading an interdisciplinary team of investigators and research personnel in research related to informatics.
  • Neo4j; Linux; HL7; REST services and other web services
