
Job Summary:
The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation and implementation of the goals and objectives of the Nebraska Coalition for Patient Safety (NCPS). NCPS in a federally listed patient safety organization whose mission is to continuously improve the safety and quality of healthcare delivery in the region.
NCPS is an independent, nonprofit (501c3) organization, with voluntary members dedicated to improving patient safety in Nebraska hospitals. NCPS was created in 2005 by Nebraska's Patient Safety Improvement Act. Its board of directors is comprised of representatives of five founding associations: (1) the Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants, (2) the Nebraska Hospital Association, (3) the Nebraska Medical Association, (4) the Nebraska Nurses Association, and (5) the Nebraska Pharmacists Association. NCPS is one of 95 federally listed Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs), and it has been continuously listed with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality since 2009.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Public Administration, Education or related field.
- 5 years experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and management within a nonprofit organization is required.
- Valid Driver's license
- Microsoft Excel,Microsoft Word,Microsoft PowerPoint
Will consider additional related post high school education in lieu of required experience.
• Must have excellent verbal, written, presentation and facilitation skills and be willing to travel on regular basis.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of current patient safety initiatives and practices.
• Must be knowledgeable of statutes and regulations relating to peer review and quality improvement principles and techniques.
• Must be knowledgeable in the principles of Root Cause Analysis (RCAs).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, Public Health, or Public Administration Or obtain Masters within 2 years of hire.
- 2 years experience:
- Previously working with a listed Patient Safety Organization or having served on a PSO's Board of Directors or volunteered on a PSO's committee.
- TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, Just Culture Champion, Safety Culture Assessment, Root Cause Analysis & Action, High Reliability Champion
- Microsoft Access,Microsoft Outlook
Certification as a Patient Safety Officer (PSO), a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Above, High Reliability Champion
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Active listener.
This person must be a good listener and continuously demonstrate a positive, "can do" attitude. They must be willing to learn new things and convey new patient safety initiatives to NCPS members and other stakeholders. They should be passionate about improving healthcare quality and patient safety.
