Job Description

Job Summary:

Cardiovascular Surgeon
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is recruiting a cardiovascular surgeon to join our growing, high-volume practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside national and international leaders in surgery, education, and research within a collaborative and innovative environment.
As a regional leader in heart transplantation and ECMO, our Division performs more than 40 annual heart transplants, 60 LVADs, and 100 ECMO procedures each year. Our expanding programs in transplantation, structural heart, and minimally invasive valve surgery make this an exceptional position for a surgeon passionate about advancing both clinical care and surgical education.
This position is well suited to a new graduate or someone with 1-5 years of experience post training. The principal requirement for the candidate is the willingness and ability to do a wide variety of complex heart surgery including CABG, valve, multi-valve, and aortic cases. In addition to heavy clinical responsibility, the Division partners closely with the Center for Heart and Vascular Research, led by Rebecca Gundry, PhD. With robust extramural funding and a dedicated Heart and Vascular Clinical Research Unit, faculty with inclination can be well supported to do clinical trials or translational research.

•Join a collegial team of five adult cardiac surgeons plus a dedicated procurement surgeon.
•Manageable 1:6 call schedule.
•Established cardiothoracic surgery residency program.
•Growing lung transplant program, top heart transplant program
