
About Us:
The Community Engagement Center (CEC) is part of the Office of Engagement (OE). The building houses more than 30 nonprofits, governmental organizations, and UNO groups in a space dedicated to fostering collaboration between the Omaha community and UNO students, faculty, and staff. The CEC also houses business events and meetings from the local and national communities, on weekdays and weekends; the events include guest lectures, symposia, conferences, documentary screenings, and fine arts events. Job Summary:
Staff Welcome Desk / Strong Customer Service:
- Proactively greets visitors.
- Answers general building questions.
- Provides guests with general building information such as reservations, room locations, and directions.
- Assists guests with general information regarding the UNO campus.
Assists the Community Engagement Center (CEC) building operations with general duties:
- Performs checks around the building every 30 minutes.
- Conducts attendance checks and data entry.
- Sets up and resets room layouts and furniture for scheduled events/meetings.
- Checks inventory.
- Cleans and organizes rooms and common spaces in between meetings.
- Assists with audio/video presentation questions.
- Prepares tech devices in the room for guests.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong proactiveness and teamwork approach.
- Familiar with Windows/Mac operating systems.
- Strong initiative for problem-solving.
- Familiar with Excel, OneDrive, Teams, and Slack.
- Strong wish to learn audio and video technologies.
- Willing to commit to a schedule of 4-hour shifts up to five days a week.
- Mature, friendly, responsible, reliable, and prompt for work shifts.
- Must possess a professional presentation.

Work schedule: Mon - Fri, various shifts (6:30 am - 9:30 pm) / Sat - Sun, various shifts (7:30 am - 5:00 pm)
Current open shifts / Fall 2025:
Mondays - 6:30am to 10:30am; 7am to 11am ; 10:30am to 2:30pm; 3pm to 7pm.
Wednesdays - 6:30am to 10:30am; 7am to 11am ; 10:30am to 2:30pm.
Thursdays - 6:30am to 10:30am; 10:30am to 2:30pm.
Fridays - 10:30am to 2:30pm; 3pm to 6:30pm.
Weekends - By demand, between 7am and 5pm when an event/meeting is scheduled.
