Job Summary:
As a Tissue Procurement Coordinator for the Lions Eye Bank of Nebraska (LEBN), responsible for communicating with hospitals, organ and tissue procurement organizations, coroners, hospice groups, and funeral homes on all deaths in Nebraska as they occur and screening all deaths for the possibility of eye/cornea donation. If the death qualifies for eye donation, they will screen the medical history with nursing staff and through medical records (EMR) and contact family for medical social history and consent for donation; all of this requires a high degree of tact, timing, and attention to detail. They are also responsible for performing sterile recoveries and processing procedures on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science or Health related field.
- 1 year experience in organ procurement, tissue banking, surgical technician or other medically related field.
- Valid driver's license
- Microsoft Excel,Microsoft Word,Microsoft PowerPoint,Microsoft Outlook
Will consider five years related education and experience combined of which two years must include related post high school education.
- Familiar with computerized data base and other computer applications.
- Highly developed analytical and organizations skills.
- Ability to prioritize and make independent clinical judgments.
- Demonstrate problem solving abilities.
- Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to interact collaboratively and sensitively with donor families.
- Knowledge of confidentiality as it applies to medical data and patient information.
- Personable, sensitive to the nature of the field of organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required with the ability to read and interpret a medical chart mandatory.
- Manual dexterity in the use of microsurgical instruments.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize sterile technique.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to work call coverage on a rotating basis, including nights, weekends and holidays
