Job Summary:
A detail-oriented Online Academic Program Advisor provides high-quality academic advising for online students enrolled in various online undergraduate and graduate programs. This entry-level position is critical in supporting student success through proactive advising, needs assessment, and collaboration with academic departments. The Online Academic Program Advisor will report to a designated Online Academic Program Advisor II.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field
- Experience with customer interaction via phone, email, and virtual meeting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse student populations
- Proficiency in technology, including student information systems, learning management platforms, and virtual communication tools
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic, student-focused environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a subject-related field.
- 1 to 4 years of academic advising, program coordination, or student / department support
- Experience working with online students in an academic advising or student support capacity
- Knowledge of retention strategies and advising best practices for online learners
