
Job Summary:
As a member of the IM Research Administration team, functions at pre-award stage to develop basic to moderately complex research proposal budgets and non-scientific supporting documents to help ensure that submissions conform with sponsor-mandated and University regulations and/or procedures. At post-award stage, serves as a financial monitor of departmental research grants and contracts, and select complex, non-research programmatic grants to help ensure compliance with conditions mandated by sponsors, government and university and campus regulations and procedures through the closeout stages. Serves as backup for the department's central accounting staff as needed for oversight of department accounts and completion of transactions.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years related accounting and/or budgeting of funds experience.
- Microsoft Excel,Microsoft Word,Microsoft Outlook
Will consider additional related post high school education in lieu of required experience.
- Requires strong analytical skills.
- The ability to perform mathematical/accounting calculations.
- The ability to apply appropriate guidelines to various situations and make appropriate decisions.
- Ability to prioritize and process work efficiently and accurately, dealing with interruptions and changing priorities.
- Work requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment to investigate and resolve problems or situations, seeking managerial input as appropriate.
- Strong communication skills, including written, oral and interpersonal.
- Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Ability to manage several simultaneous projects while meeting prescribed time lines.
- Knowledge of various grant accounting rules and regulations – differ by funding source. Federal regulation knowledge, particularly cost principles.
- Knowledge of sponsored programs accounting, SAP and/or similar accounting systems.
- The ability to work independently as appropriate, seek assistance when needed and take direction as appropriate.
- Must be able to assist and work with all individuals with whom this position comes in contact in a professional manner.
- Must be able to work on multiple projects with multiple time constraints and be able to handle discrepancies and disagreements appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Grants Administration, Business Administration, Nonprofit Finance, or Nonprofit/Funds Accounting.
- Experience in a college/university or healthcare setting.
- Experience in a research-related financial position.
- SAP system general ledger experience in journal entry and reporting.
