Job Summary:
The Student Success Coordinator works to set students on successful pathways and help them find a supportive community at the University of Nebraska Kearney. The Coordinator provides guidance, support, and connections to campus resources, primarily to first-year at-promise students. The Student Success Coordinator also supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of academic skills/strategies curriculum for UNK's first year seminar course. In addition, the position develops and delivers training for first year seminar instructors. This position requires close collaboration with faculty, staff colleagues, and the Director of the General Education program. In addition, the position manages student employees and coordinates the holistic, strengths-oriented support they provide to other students, with a focus on study skills/strategies and the transition to UNK. The position also collaborates with colleagues in the department to provide presentations and workshops.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
One year experience working in a higher education environment.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics and pressures of college students and a strong interest in actively engaging to support student success and satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Psychology, Education, or related field
Two years of teaching experience
- Experience supervising college student employees
- Experience with course management software, like Canvas
- Experience developing and delivering training material
- Experience supporting first-year college students
