Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the Mid-America Transportation Center (MATC) website. The individual will interpret user-needs and create responsive, user-friendly web pages that align with W3C and UNL standards, as well as grant deliverable requirements. The position ensures delivery of creative, concise, well-tested, secure, highly professional, and functional projects using a relational database management system combined with UNL's Drupal-based content management system.

 

The individual will use the Drupal 10 content management system to develop front-end pages. They will use HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Laravel, relational database management systems, and other programming technologies to create pages integrated with back-end databases. The website will need to be regularly updated and optimized for performance and user experience. The website will also need to be regularly tested for functionality, usability, and security.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, communications, computer science, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working with relational database management systems, including MySQL or PostgreSQL, for web design and development.
  • Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability for absorbing and organizing information and presenting it textually and graphically. Excellent organization skills necessary.
  • Must have a working knowledge of content management systems (especially Drupal), W3C standards, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Laravel, and Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to explain websites/databases during non-technical discussions.

Preferred Qualifications (but not required):

  • Master's degree
  • Three (3) years of solid experience in developing dynamic, database-driven websites.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of best practices for web application security.
  • Understanding of UNL's Drupal-based content management system.
